Tom Phan

Solicitor Partner

Tom has always aspired to lead a career in law – he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law and has since worked exclusively in the legal industry. He worked in several law firms, first in “general practice” law firms where he gained exposure and experience in a wide range of areas of law, including criminal law and conveyancing, as well as immigration and humanitarian law. He then specialised in criminal law and eventually co-founded Rosemont Partners, driven by his vision to establish a truly client-focused law firm.

Tom’s practice still focuses on criminal law – he guides his clients through a broad spectrum of criminal law matters, ranging from minor traffic violations to some of the most serious crimes such as historical sexual assault and large-scale drug importation. He also assists his clients in their family law matters and conveyancing.

Tom's goal in his practice of law is to achieve favourable outcomes for his clients by working closely with them at every stage of their legal situation His approach is unique with a genuine care for his clients, a deep understanding of what is at stake for them and of the pressures they feel upon them throughout their cases.

Jason Koh

Solicitor Partner

Jason is well-known and highly regarded for his expertise and experience in civil and criminal litigation. He holds double bachelor degrees in finance and law with distinction from the University of New South Wales. After working in investment banking and general practice, he specialised in criminal law litigation for several years before co-founding Rosemont Partners.

Jason's practice focuses on civil litigation, particularly in commercial and business law and property law. He provides comprehensive advice to clients, assessing the viability of their claims, addressing the underlying problems and pre-empting and minimising risks in litigation. He also assists clients in criminal and family law matters that have progressed to litigation.

Jason's pragmatic approach empowers clients to make commercially wise decisions in their cases or avoid litigation altogether. His goal is to ensure successful outcomes are achieved with accurate advice and effective risk management.

Salam Shammu

Solicitor Partner

Salam is an incisive and meticulous lawyer practising predominately in criminal law with a focus on complex criminal matters. He holds double bachelor degrees in law and commerce from the University of New South Wales. Prior to joining Rosemont Partners, he practiced exclusively in criminal law, representing clients charged with complex fraud offences as well as other serious crimes such as murder, commercial drug supply and importation, serious assaults and firearm offences.

Salam has continued representing his clients in all types of criminal matters, but his clients have also benefited from his analytical experience and expertise in their property law and contractual disputes, as well as various other types of business law matters.

Salam’s strength lies in his ability to deconstruct multiple lawyers and aspects of complex evidence, his tactical approach to pre-empt risks, and his creativity in gathering and securing crucial evidence to manage those risks well ahead of his opponents, so that his clients always have the upper hand. He believes frank communication with his clients, providing constant and timely updates to one another, is crucial to best effecting his approach to legal practice.

Elic Tang

Special Counsel

Elic graduated from the University of New South Wales, with bachelor’s degrees in commerce and law. He then predominantly practiced in general practice law firms, which allowed him to gain experience in dealing with all areas of law and understand and advise clients in many different types of legal situations and businesses. Elic gained a reputation for and prided himself as a “jack of all trades”.

At Rosemont Partners, Elic now specialises in family law, the area of law he is the most passionate about, and where many clients have had the benefits of his hard work and compassion in their cause. He also assists his clients in several other areas of law including property law and compensation law.

Elic prides himself on giving clients legal advice that can be expected from a top-tier law firm whilst maintaining the personal service of a small firm – high in quality, but affordable in prices and with a personal touch. His unique approach focuses not only on securing the most favourable outcomes, but also achieving them in the most cost-effective way.
